EDINBURGH -- England comfortably avoided a banana-skin possibility in dispatching Scotland 20-0 in Six Nations rugby on Saturday. Englands only win in the four most recent trips north had been tight, and Scotland was expected after losing 28-6 to Ireland six days ago to show some venom against its archrival. But Scotland was just as toothless as it was in Dublin, on a parasite-infested Murrayfield pitch not worthy of a test. The English, unchanged from the narrow opening loss to France, justified their coaches trust by winning the Calcutta Cup for a fifth straight time and giving the ball surprising width for due reward. Centre Luther Burrell and fullback Mike Brown scored the tries, and England could afford for Owen Farrell to make only half his goalkicks. Scotland scrumhalf Greig Laidlaw, retained ahead of Chris Cusiter for his goalkicking and made captain, missed his two chances, both in the first half when his desperately outclassed side needed a boost. After two games on the road, England was set for the home match with undefeated Ireland in two weeks. "Ireland have played really well, but were confident also," England coach Stuart Lancaster said. In keeping Scotland scoreless in this fixture for the first time since 1978, Brown said, "The forwards put an outstanding shift in. Faz (Farrell) at 10 and DC (Danny Care) at nine just pulling the strings, it was overall outstanding." Scotland hasnt scored a try in four straight tests, three of them at home, and travels next to Italy, where it hasnt won in eight years. The statistics made dire reading for Scotland: 16 penalties conceded, 14 turnovers, 5 lineouts lost and one telescope to see where Englands 22 was. "Youre not going to win with a lineout that doesnt work," Cusiter said. "We just couldnt get anything going. We seemed to be committing too many to rucks, not getting any fast ball, and we started missing tackles at the end. We just could never put them under pressure. Its hugely disappointing." The Scots didnt start either half well. Duncan Weir booted the kickoff straight out on the full, and in the second half Scotland lost another of its throw-ins and was backed up to its 22. In between, England cruised without feeling any pressure. Farrell missed a penalty out front when his planted left foot slipped, but Care kicked a 30-meter dropped goal with aplomb for the first points. Scotland was penalized for interfering with Billy Twelvetrees, giving England an attacking lineout 10 metres out, and England rolled the maul with utter patience. Care squared off the ruck and Burrell timed his run into the gap expertly, and was tackled too late. Farrell converted, then Laidlaw missed his second penalty attempt, hitting the post for a second straight match. Farrell kicked another penalty in the 29th, and almost put the match away seconds before halftime, with a step off his left foot, dummy and clean break. Burrell came up his inside and was stopped by Scotland winger Sean Lamont in front of the left post. England, up 13-0, changed into clean shirts at the break but they didnt stay white for long. No. 8 Billy Vunipola rampaged up the middle, offloaded to Brown, and Jonny May received an overlap on the left wing. May was foiled, but Scotland centre Alex Dunbar was sin-binned. It took seven minutes for England to make the man advantage count, and even then the long buildup looked to have broken down on the left wing. But winger Jack Nowell picked up the dropped ball, shimmied past several tackles and fed Brown to scoot in with a fist pump. There was still a quarter to go, but England wasnt fussed. Scotland had nothing. Blake Treinen Jersey . The Wild, playing their first game since leading scorer Mikko Koivu broke his ankle Saturday at Washington, have won three straight for the first time since Nov. 1-5. Koivu underwent surgery on Monday and is expected to miss at least four weeks. Mark McGwire Jersey .com) - The Atlanta Hawks have stepped up to every challenge during their 14-game winning streak and will face another daunting task Friday with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder in town. http://www.athleticsrookiestore.com/Ath ... ds-Jersey/. Last July, F1 teams held in-season testing sessions at Silverstone to assess new tires provided by Pirelli after several blowouts on the same circuit at the British Grand Prix in June prompted a furious response from drivers and even a boycott threat the following week. Brett Anderson Jersey . Louis Blues were workmanlike, methodical and -- most of all -- effective on Monday night. Jed Lowrie Jersey . They never thought it would take some blood, too. Kevin Love grabbed his 4,000th career rebound as part of a 19-point, 13-board effort to lead the Timberwolves over the Utah Jazz 112-97 on Tuesday night. CLEVELAND -- Terry Francona heard the boos from the home crowd, and the Cleveland Indians manager didnt mind one bit. Francona pulled Corey Kluber two outs short of a complete game in Clevelands 4-1 win over Kansas City on Sunday. The crowd of 16,991 wanted to see Kluber, who allowed four hits and struck out 10 in 8 1-3 innings, finish the game, and the fans let Francona know they didnt agree with his decision. "I dont blame them," Francona said. "If I was managing with my heart, Id have left him in there, too." Kluber (8-6) took a three-hitter into the ninth before Eric Hosmer started the inning with a double. The right-hander, who gave up a solo homer to Mike Moustakas in the fifth, was removed after striking out Salvador Perez. Kluber also heard the boos and used the opportunity to take a good-natured jab at his manager. "Kip (second baseman Jason Kipnis) was giving him a hard time, too," he said. "It was pretty funny, I guess." Cody Allen recorded the final two outs for his ninth save, and Carlos Santana and Yan Gomes homered in a three-run second inning. Kluber, who walked one, retired the first seven hitters before Jarrod Dysons infield single with one out in the third. Lorenzo Cain also had an infield hit in the sixth. Kluber has been Clevelands ace all season. He has four double-figure strikeout games. "It sure is nice, man, to write his name in there," Francona said. "He has weapons, he has poise, and he competes." Francona said. Kluber is working to stay on an even keel throughout the season. "Im trying to be as consistent as I can from start to start," Kluber said. "I try to avoid the downs as much as possible and keep the good stuff rolling." Kluber rarely shows any emotion on the mound, but Francona thinks appearances can be misleading. "Hes very locked in," Francona said. "Maybe his demeanour belies the real fire thats in there. He gets after it." Even Moustakas, who walked in the seventh and is 7 for 18 against Kluber, was impressed. "Everything he was throwing was nasty," he said. A lack of run support has kept Kluber from having a better record. He allowed three runs over 20 2-3 innings in his last three sstarts, but lost twice.ddddddddddddKluber held the Dodgers to one run in 6 2-3 innings on Monday, but was the losing pitcher in a 1-0 defeat. Both of Clevelands home runs came off Danny Duffy (5-8). Santana led off the inning with a line drive that barely cleared the fence in right. Gomes followed with a two-run homer to centre. Michael Brantley, who went 2 for 4 to raise his average to .321, had an RBI single in the fifth. Santanas homer came on a 1-1 pitch and was his 13th of the season, tying him with Brantley for the team lead. Ryan Raburn followed with a single, and Gomes hit his 10th home run on a 1-0 pitch. Cleveland has won four of five and moved within two games of second-place Kansas City in the AL Central. The Royals, who trail first-place Detroit by 4 1-2 games, dropped their first road series since losing two of three against the Los Angeles Angels from May 23-25. Duffy allowed 10 hits and struck out six in six innings. The left-hander had a 1.69 ERA in six June starts and was 3-1 with a 1.05 ERA in his last four road starts. The Indians placed leadoff hitter and centre fielder Michael Bourn on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring. Bourn has been battling the injury all season and hurt it again running the bases on Saturday. Left fielder Alex Gordon and designated hitter Billy Butler, who are both in lengthy slumps, were out of Sundays lineup. Gordon is mired in a 3 for 40 skid, and Butler has just three hits in 26 at-bats. NOTES: The Royals signed LHP Scott Downs, who was released by the White Sox on Thursday. He pitched a scoreless seventh inning. RHP Casey Coleman was optioned to Triple-A Omaha. ... The Indians called up OF Tyler Holt from Triple-A Columbus to take Bourns roster spot.
